Logitech T630 Touch Mouse Review*

Okay, so if like me T630 means sweet FA to you, basically the lovely people at Logitech have sent me a very snazzy looking bluetooth mouse to review from the perspective of a student. I was a little hesitant, I've never bothered with a mouse or keyboard for my laptop, they come with one, why would I? Well I've been pleasantly surprised by this little beauty.

Firstly lets talk about how pretty it is, I mean look at it, it matches my laptop perfectly! For me, this is actually quite important, I'm a bit sad like that. It doesn't look cheap or tacky, it looks like a professional quality item that you wouldn't be ashamed to be seen with, everything about this mouse screams quality, even the box it was delivered in was classy! So by the time I finally got round to using it I had pretty high expectations of it.
Proper fancy! (Image credit: www.gadgetreview.com)
So like a kid at Christmas, I whipped it out the box and obviously neglecting the instruction manual, I attempted to connect it to my computer. The hardest part of that was locating the bluetooth settings on my computer, once I had done that it took us under a minute to be up and going with it. After that it was three days of pretty constant use before it needed a charge, I hadn't even thought about that when I got it out of the box so I was impressed, after a full charge it lasted a good week of pretty intense use before it needed another which is pretty good going! Also, the charger, it's tiny, USB to micro USB but it's about 10cm long, I love it! I've been using it for nearly a month now and it feels strange to use my touchpad!

Now as good as all of those things are, there are a few minor issues I would like to point out. For me the size of the mouse is it's biggest strength and weakness, after using the mouse for a couple of hours my hand starts to ache as there isn't really much support there, so if you are looking for a mouse you can use 9-5 every day then this isn't it I'm afraid but then again that's not what this mouse is designed for, if you want a mouse you can fit in your pocket and use on the commute into the office or for casual use then this is the only mouse for you. Another issue was that it took me an annoying amount of time to figure out how to control Windows 8 with it, especially getting the start screen up, after a bit of searching I found this handy diagram from PC world.

I'm just going to leave this here for you all (Thanks PC World!)

My final issue is the price at £59.99, by my standards, that's expensive. If you're the kind of person who likes splashing out on technology then this is great, seriously an amazing product, however, if you're like me and a total tight arse, perhaps not. As much as I appreciate how awesome and cute this is, I just wouldn't pay that much for a mouse, if someone got me this as a present it would be totally awesome and I think from a student perspective this would be the best way of getting one, since this would actually be useful at uni it makes an ideal gift for any parents wanting to treat their kids before they head off for the year. Looking at this product from solely a student point of view it's a fantastic size and really light, both of which mean it won't cause issues when you're taking your laptop back and forth from the library and since it's something that you would actually use everyday it makes it a little easier for students to convince Mummy and Daddy to buy them one!

It's going to be a 3* from me I think. What do you guys think, is it work splashing out on technology like this?

Keep it Scrimpy,
Laura.

  1. A week on one charge? My cheap £10 from Argos mouse lasts for months with a single AA battery and my Apple Bluetooth mouse also lasts for months on a pair of AAs.

    1. I didn't think that was bad, I had been using it pretty intense use, about 8/10 hours a day. I've never used another battery powered mouse so I don't have anything to compare it with.
