Unleash your #MeatLust blogger challenge*

So the people over at Flava-It must know how much I love food because the recently sent over some of their new 'Meat Lust' 10 minute marinades for me to try! Also, because they know that I'm a student and it's been so long since my last student loan installment, they were very kind and sent me a Tesco voucher so I could buy some meat to marinade. They were good to me.

So I was sent four samples, Barbecue, Ghost chilli, Buffalo and Louisiana BBQ, they were very kind to send me a cheat sheet with recipes on, but Richard and I have a total disregard for the rules so we decided to make up our own burger recipe using the Louisiana BBQ marinade. Richard was in charge of photos, never again (you will see why)!

First we headed to Tesco for some of our ingredients:

Beef mince - 750g (made 8 burgers)
Burger buns - we went for sesame seed ones since they are amazing toasted!

Next we raided the cupboards at my mum's house, for our other ingredients:

2 slices of bread - for break crumbs
1 egg
Salad - whatever you fancy
Sauces - ketchup, mayo, BBQ (whatever floats your boat)

We started by making the burger mix, by throwing the the mince, egg, bread crumbs and marinade in to a nice big bowl and mixing. If you make this then get your hands in and really go for it, it's messy but a lot of fun! You should end up with a weird brain like ball of meat. Cover it and let that marinade work it's magic.

While the marinade was doing it's thing and absorbing all of that flavour, we got on with preparing the fresh ingredients, we had quite the array of salad! The marinade only needs 10 mins which is great as a student, since when my workload piles up I quickly start to neglect cooking decent food. With this I can have really tasty fresh food quickly meaning that I have more time to work! It's a win win situation.

Once that was all done it was time to shape the burgers, the meat smelt amazing and looked to have really taken on the marinade well, my only issue was that the marinade had made the meat really slimy which made them a pain in the butt to shape into burgers, turns out Richard was a dab hand at that so he was quickly allocated the job of shaping while I started cooking them in a pan before transferring them to the oven to finish off.

They were so yummy that between the four of us we didn't manage to take a photo of a finished burger, however here is an awful and not at all attractive picture of me stuffing one into my face. They were so tasty.

They were seriously nice and as I'm writing this I am lusting for more, so yes I did get my meat lust on and I can't wait to do it again! If you want to get your meat lust on you can visit the website www.meatlust.com and bag yourself a free sample to try. Tesco currently has these on offer for 75p! I'll be heading there to stock up soon, they have a mint one that I really want to try with some slow roasted lamb.

What do you guys think? Will you be getting your Meat Lust on soon?

Keep it scrimpy,
Laura
