I began my detox a week ago which was also the Geography Societies Christmas ball. This actually made the detox a lot easier, there was no need to be checking Facebook or updating Twitter, also I had no signal at the place anyway!
The next few days were a little harder and I have to admit, a couple of times I did go off the rails. I found that if I planned my time online well and was ready to turn off by 9pm then I was fine but on those more rushed days when 9pm snook up on me a little, it was a lot harder to resist the urge.
One night Richard and I took the time to make the gingerbread village that I picked up in home bargins in Januray and has been sat in my house ever since, it kept surprisingly well! We both really enjoyed it although we were in agreement that I had more of a knack for it than he did!
Another techno free evening was spent with Chris at the Music Society's Christmas concert, I'd never really been to anything like this before and I have to say I'm glad I went, both the chior and orchestra were amazing and after singing along to a couple to christmas carols, even one in Welsh! Points for anyone who knows what 'O dawel ddinas Bethlehem' is! This was actually the first time I felt properly christmassy so I'm very glad I got the chance to go.
My final few evenings were spent back home with this little lady, mostly lazing around watching TV, although these were the times, sat at home not actively doing anything that I've found myself on Twitter, more out of habit than anything else.
I think I'd like to do a detox more often, maybe every now and again declare an evening as a detox evening, I think as a student, I spend too much of my time staring at a screen, it's been great to disconnect from the digital world and just for a few hours live in my own little bubble.
What do you think? Could you do a digital detox? If you do please let me know and give Endsleigh a tweet @Endsleigh
Keep it Scrimpy,
Laura.
*I received vouchers to help me complete this detox.
I couldn't do it.
