Cooking with Jane and Richard. Mission 1 Burritos.

So a few weeks ago the lovely people at Heinz got in contact about their new range of beans. However, after a recent disagreement with tomatoes, I couldn't test them luckily I have some very hungry friends who were keen to help me out.

Welcome to cooking with Jane and Richard!

They are what I would call the average student cooks, Richard makes some mean cheese on toast and Jane makes some fabulous cakes but by their own admission, between them their cooking skills aren't fabulous. So this year they have decided it's time to get cooking! Chris and I will be sharing our wisdom with them over the next few months and hopefully you'll be able to follow their progress here.

Mission 1: Burritos

Ingredients

2 Chicken breasts
1 Onion
2 Peppers
1 tin Heinz fajita beans*
1 bag of microwave Rice
1 pack of Tortilla wraps
Salt and pepper
Paprika
Chilli powder

Step one- Cook that rice

We had some left over boil in the bag rice  and we also added a bag of microwave rice. If you can cook rice like a normal human then get it on now so it's ready later.

Step two- chop that veg

Maybe not like this
More like this, the peppers got chopped into sticks and the onion (eventually) got diced and all fingers remained intact! Our first success.

Step three- slice that chicken

Now we had quite the discussion whether we should slice or dice. We went for slice. If you want to dice, go ahead! Maybe use a chopping board rather than a plate though!

Step four- cook that chicken!

Chuck the chicken into a hot pan, add some seasoning if you want a bit of an extra kick, we used some paprika and chilli powder. Also Chris and I couldn't stress enough how important seasoning is. Stick some salt and pepper in there now!

Step five- cook that veg

When the chicken is mostly cooked add the onion, cook that bad boy for a few mins then chuck in the peppers. Cook those and you're almost done!

Step six- it's time for Heinz

Stick those beans in there. Also we loved the fact that it was a ring pull can. In a student house it's hard to find a good tin opener!

Step seven- Rice rice baby

Remember that rice you cooked earlier? Well now you'll need it. Stick it in the pan now. If the whole mixture looks a little dry then add a little water. Now you're done!

Step eight- Time to dine.

Grab those wraps, fill 'em and eat 'em.

All in all this meal was a great success, firstly nobody got food poisoning, secondly everyone enjoyed it! The beans were a great addition, added some heat and saved us adding our own sauce, we were all very impressed and will definitely be using these beans again!

Let us know what you think Jane and Richard should cook next.

Keep it Scrimpy,
Laura.
